Investigators with the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center arrived withinin minutes of the reported sexual abuse of a 7 year old girl in a West Utica storage shed, according to a press release from the advovacy center.

Forty-six year old Robert McMurray of Utica is accused of subjecting the young girl to sexual contact in the shed near Whitesboro and Jason Streets. He's charged with first degree Sexual Abuse.

The alleged incident was reported at around 1:40pm on Wednesday. Authorities say McMurray was located a short time later.

The victim and suspect were acquainted and the suspect was described as a friend of the victim's neighbor, according to the release.

The investigation will be forwarded to the Oneida County District Attorney's Office for possible grand jury action.

McMurray was sent to city lockup for arraignment.

The victim has been offered counseling through the advocacy center.
